Guest teaching artist for multiple sections of 9th grade English classes studying Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
Taught students about Shakespearean
language and staging conditions, and discussed how to use these as guides for reading the plays. Workshopped
scenes in class so they could experience the effect of some of these linguistic and staging conditions in their classrooms,
and to help prepare them for what they would see when they attended a student matinee of Romeo and Juliet (a
production that I directed for the Sheboygan Theatre Co.).

Kids for Kids Productions, Inc.; Oakdale, NY
Workshop in learning to perform Shakespeare's plays with a working knowledge
of how verse and staging conditions can help an actor better understand
those plays and make meaningful acting choices for a mix of secondary school
and college students. Introduced students to
scansion techniques and the verse forms that Shakespeare deploys, and how
rhetorical figures can compliment verse. Also taught students to read the plays
with an understanding of staging conditions like universal lighting, audience
contact, and actor's patrs in mind.

Taught a workshop in Shakespeare's verse and staging conditions
with theatre campers aged 8 - 12 using Romeo and Juliet
2.2 (the balcony scene) as an exemplar. Introduced students to
basic scansion techniques and how to use those in performance; as
well as the opportunities afforded by universal lighting, audience
contact, playing darkness, and how to use paraphrase to help
understand a Shakespearean play.
